I am so ticked off next week we got to go to school Monday, and Tuesday. Then we are out for Winter Brake there is no point in going for 2 days when we won't do anything in school anyway. I'll still get stuck going though if I could take off I would.
Hehehe, I remember feeling like that. It does seem totally pointless. Of course, now that I'm older, I understand a little more about why they do it. Most states have rules that students have to attend a certain number of days of school per year. So, if they didn't have you going to school the two days this week, those days would get tacked on to the end of the year, and then it'd be longer till you got out for summer break.
i wonder what's going to happen to people who have a final exam tomorrow morning or afternoon at my university. we're supposed ot get a lot of snow tonight, so if it's canceled ... oh my goodness, there's going to be a ton of pissed-off people if they have to go in an extra day nex week.
I always found it extremely pointless for those of us who went to schools for the blind to have to go for only two or three days out of the week. It wasn't as much of a hassle for the day students, but it always annoyed the dorm students to have to ride for several hours, in some cases, on the bus on Sunday and have to do it again just three days later.
Namaste,
Becky
lol, my school have to do that too. But, i rather have it like this rather than have it intrude in to my summer break
i rather it it go into our summer break
tomorrow is so dumb, we come till 11:30 and then go home. lol wtf is up with that?
Yeah summer break! Lol! I undderstand what you mean about the blind school thing, i used to hate that! I mean, going home the weekend before then having to go right back home the next like Wednesday or so...that just got really annoying!
That's exactly why I'm not coming next week. I live in the dorm at my school, so there's no point in coming for 2 days, and my parents don't care yay!
Lucky you, though I get a bonus. If I come monday, I get a party at my tech school. I know some of the guys ar bringing rock band, and an XBOX hard drive. Me? I'll be in the back probably playing miriani or project bob, or messing with my friends acoustic guitar.
I agree with post 2, however, it's a bit rediculous.
Yeah, we had something like that back in November. 11-11-08 was a Tuesday. So, we went to school on Monday and got Tuesday off and went back to school regularly. Damn, a lot of people was absent on Monday. It was pretty pointless. Why not just get a four day weekend or instead get 11-10-08 off?
At my blind schoool, we actually got the friday before the holidays off. I'm a day student so it doesn't matter for me either way, but i agree, that is rather pointless. Especially if its the kind of days we have before holidays, where absolutely nothing is done and classes consist of those who have laptops doing whatever they want, and those who don't wishing they did, lol.
At the end of the year though, the finals always happen monday to thursday, with two exams per day. There is supposed to be school that friday and for part of the next week, until Wednesday, but i always just considered my last exam day, Thursday, my last day of school. This year it is, I believe, the 18th, but school is supposed to get off on the 24th. The best part is that since i have no exam in the afternoon, I can get picked up around 11:00, or whenever I finish my last exam, and that's it for me. I actually kind of like it this way. What I don't like, however, is that school ends so damned late in Canada. Someone explain to me why it is that I go to school on September 2nd and get out on June 24th, when people in the US can go to school around August 20th or whenever it is, but get out at the end of May? That just pisses me off.
Not exactly true, I go to school in september and get out june 15th theirabouts.
My university crams all these days together so we start in the second or third week of August and get out lat April. We do have random days off in the fall such as fall break which is just the first 2 days of the week where all you do is homework anyways, and a day off in October that we would have school if there was a hurricane.
